Virulent anti-western Wahhabist teachings are spread by Saudi Wahhabists throughout the world using Madrassah, with a major impact on disaffected Muslims in Pakistan and Afghanistan.  This export is highly prevalent in the Middle East and is seized by anti-Semetic factions as the ideaology used to foster anti-Semetic terrorism and the basis for the Palestinian Jihad.  The Munich Olympics attacks by Black September group mark the begining of decades of Palestinian Jihadist attacks against Jews worldwide that has yet to cease.

Soviet Union poured troops and weapons into Afghanistan, U.S. and allies countered with cash, intelligence, training, and support for Afghani rebels, both in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the resistance was based.  These rebels were Muslims trained in Pakistan by virulent anti-western Wahhabists who never-the-less took the aid – in their minds, the lesser of two evils.  Osama Bin Laden is a Mujadihin fighter in the struggle, a very wealthy Saudi citizen bringing funds to the rebels.  Palestinian Jihadists continue to kill Jews by the busloads.  Late in the 1980s,the Palestinian Jihadists begin to recruit and "launch" suicide bombers -- Jihadists wearing an explosives laden vest under their jackets -- who blow up themselves and innocents in buses, markets, checkpoints, etc. in Israel, and later anywhere the Jihad has been exported to (including later in Iraq). 

Pakistani based Wahhabists formed the Taliban, and consolidated power amongst the tribes in Afghanistan, eventually taking over the government,.  Created a puritanical form of Islamic government along the lines of the Salafiyya  movement.    Osama Bin Laden given refuge and begins building a power base eventually calling his organization, Al Qaeda.  He recruits Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri of Egyptian Islamic Jihad.  Boldened and strengthened, Pakistani Islamic Extremists export virulent anti-western believes as well as Jihadists all over Europe and U.S.  First World Trade Center bombing by Pakistani Militant Islamic Jihadists.  Al Qaeda attacks US Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, killing hundreds.

U.S Intelligence Community misses key indicators, failures to communicate amongst key agencies, while careerism and the policies of an over-reaching politically correct Dept. of Justice all aid in a failure to detect Al Qaeda operatives in U.S.  Osama Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda plans a diabolically simple attack on the U.S., using jet planes as piloted missiles, destroying the twin towers of the World Trade Center and a wing of the Pentagon in the U.S.  This further spurs support making Al Qaeda the top Militant Islamic Jihadist terrorist group in the world.  Pakistani Extremists move into Europe and U.S. creating new centers for recruiting and planning for attacks.  U.S. ouster of the Taliban in Afghanistan creates a temporary lull in Al Qaeda activity, but soon it is clear that Al Qaeda is a worldwide phenomenon.  Indonesian cells of Al Qaeda kill hundreds in Bali night club bombings. When the U.S. topples Saddam Hussein in Iraq, Jordanian Al Qaeda leader Musab Al Zarqawi moves to Iraq and leads Iraqi terrorists in insurgency migrating quickly to killing Iraqis in wholesale numbers.  Al Qaeda linked groups attacks trains in Madrid, Spain and in 2005 Al Qaeda "wanna-bes" kill 100s in London, England subway bombings and hundreds in a resort in Saudi Arabia. European Muslim populations (especially in France) number in the tens of millions. 
In the Summer of 2006, evidence mounts of a plot by terrorists linked to Pakistan groups who will use liquid explosives to take down multiple airlines in transit to the U.S..  Officials create airport chaos by instituting draconian inspections and disallowing carry on liquids in the U.S. and in the U.K. the also disallow electronic devices.  Restrictions begin easing by late September of 2006, but not after the damage is done to the airline industry -- AGAIN.
