Leadership
Armed wing of the Pakistan-based religious organization, Markaz-ud-Dawa-wal-Irshad (MDI).  LeT wishes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India and propagates a narrow Islamic fundamentalism based on the Wahabi sect.  Post 9/11, Pakistani President Musharaff outlawed the group which promptly changed its name to Jamat-al-Dawal.  Also some members split off to form Laskar -e-Qahhar. HQ in Muridke, near Lahore, Pakistan.
Activities: Operations in Jammu and Kashmir since 1993. Numerous attacks in 2001, including an attack in January on Srinagar airport; killed five Indians and six militants; an attack on a police station in Srinagar that killed eight officers; April attack against Indian border-security forces, 4 dead. 13 December 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament building. Suspected behind May 14 2002attack  on an Indian Army base in Kaluchak, 36 dead. LET has hosted Al Qaeda trainees and other Islamic militants, including Shahzad Tanweer, one of the suicide bombers in the July 7, 2005 London Underground attack.
External Aid: In 1994, the LeT became one of the primary recipients of funds from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), a Pakistani intelligence agency.  Also reciprocal funding, training, logistics support, weapons from Al-Qaeda.

Links: Al-Qaeda and Lashar-e-Qahhar.  Also evidence  all Pakistani originated terrorist groups active in Kashmir region coordinate and share personnel.

Cleric and teacher, currently says he no longer is part of any terrorist group, and was ordered released by a Lahore, Pakistan court.
