Executive orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President manages the operations of the Federal government. This list, prepared by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration, includes the following information for every Executive order beginning with E.O. 11001, Feb. 16, 1962:

E.O. 11500 through 11749, Dec. 12, 1969 through Dec. 10, 1973
E.O. 11750 through 11999, Dec. 13, 1973 through June 27, 1977
E.O. 12000 through 12249, June 29, 1977 through Oct. 25, 1980
E.O. 12250 through 12499, Nov. 2, 1980 through Jan. 18, 1985
E.O. 12500 through 12749, Jan 24, 1985 through Feb. 4, 1991
E.O. 12750 through 12999, Feb. 14, 1991 through April 17, 1996

Where to find the text of an E.O. Every Executive order is printed in the Presidential Documents section of the Federal Register, published daily by the U.S. Government Printing Office. You can find the Federal Register most libraries, and in all Federal Depository Libraries. Federal Registers after January 1, 1994 are available online through GPO Access, a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office.

Executive orders beginning with E.O. 7316, March 13, 1936, appear in the sequential editions of Title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
