Ryan
Mauro's Geo-Political Analysis
In
this brief article, Ryan takes time out to write his own State of the
Union Address. President Mauro clearly understands the world situation
pretty well, and in the last line makes it clear that he, like many
Americans, are frustrated with a system of government that has plenty
of potential but is wasted by childish bickering. You'd get our
applause, Ryan.

State of the Union Address

Congressmen and fellow citizens: The state of our
union is strong, confident and determined. Despite everything the
"Blame America First" crowd said, freedom is expanding around the world
and the War on Terrorism continues. Our successes in the past year are
likely to change the world.
For over a decade, the United States ignored growing threats, and
preferred to believe that groups like Al-Qaeda acted alone. With every
attack it becomes clearer and clearer that terrorists can only operate
with the assistance of enemy countries. Two state sponsors of
terrorism, Afghanistan and Iraq, have been removed by force. A third
state sponsor, Libya, has renounced terrorism after the capture of
Saddam Hussein.
Today, Iran is the greatest sponsor of terrorism around the world. Iran
is between one and two years away from obtaining the ability to produce
nuclear weapons. Iran is also known to be harboring key Al-Qaeda
leaders. The Iranian people are overwhelmingly against the evil regime,
and it would be selfish for America to deny them assistance.
Syria, a key ally of Iran, is also involved in sponsoring terrorism. As
long as Syria and Iran continue their ways, peace in the Middle East is
impossible. The key to destroying the insurgency in Iraq is stopping
Syria and Iran. They are directly responsible for killing hundreds of
our soldiers and thousands of Iraqis. We cannot ignore them any longer.
The people of both these countries are longing for freedom. I will work
with Congress to begin formal assistance to the freedom fighters on
these two nations. We cannot put a price tag on their suffering any
longer.
Recently, it has been found that France, a country that claims to stand
for freedom, had been bribed by Saddam Hussein with oil and with money.
Politicians got rich off of working with Saddam. Yet this country had a
veto over whether we could defend ourselves. Now we know that people
were bribed throughout the United Nations by Saddam.
The United States must work to dramatically reform the UN, or if
necessary, create an alternative to the UN. It is not right that a
country with 10 million people has as much say as a country with a
billion people. The United Nations is now seen not as a force to
promote freedom, but as a force to restrain the United States.
My administration wants a different global body. One where democracies
are valued, where freedom is advocated, and where dictators are looked
down upon. And one that isn't afraid to uphold the principles it was
created upon. No longer will an anti-American country decide what's
best for us.
Freedom is advancing around the world. This is something both parties
must stand together on. For too long we've been divided. When Bill
Clinton nearly went to war with Iraq, because he believed Iraq had
weapons of mass destruction and was working with Bin Laden, the
Republicans opposed his every move. Today, the Democrats are opposing
Bush's every move. The hypocrisy and partisanship of both parties must
come to an end.
