MILNET Brief:
Health care Crisis: Immigration Ties?, 06/01/2008

None of the Presidential candidates or Congress are focusing on the right place to fix our nation's health care crisis.  It's not the people who are working and have medical benefits and its not simply single moms or single dads struggling to keep up.  It's not just the low paid workers or those working where benefits are "conveniently" not required to be covered due to a one to ten hour deficit in number of hours worked in a week.  Yes, these are all problems, but minuscule in comparison to the real problem.

Do the math, friends.  What happens when several millions of our "new citizens" have babies.  Moreover, what happens in less than two decades later when those children grow up and have their own children?  Two decades ago, we began to look the other way when the "poor and hungry" began an assault on our nation's borders, then settled seemingly for good in our cities.  Then they began sending a high proportion of their meager wages back south of the border, and surprise, they had babies, all funded by our happily stupid and ignorant society.   And today we are reaping the benefits of our bleeding hearts.

Let's just pick a low number, say 1 million illegals over a period of twenty years.  That's 20 million. Every year, (assume they are all males)  gave birth to a baby.  Why?  It is against the vast majority of the illegal's religion to use contraceptives.  Duh!  So we have an additional 1 million new babies per year.  So in twenty years (we'll be conservative here, the number is more like 17 to 18 years), we have 20 million + 19 million (19 years of baby growth).  That's 59 million.

Today, we have reached twenty years since this exodus began.  In that time, a VERY high ratio of the babies born twenty years ago, are having their own babies.  All, by the way, genuine U.S. citizens due to the foulest, most insane travesty upon national sovereignty ever foisted on the American People, citizenship by birth in the U.S.  Moreover, this granting of citizen defies the very fact that the children are born of citizens of another nation -- they become citizens regardless of their parent's immigration status.  Oops.

So that means, starting today (actually, in reality, this started happening three to five years ago), we will now have an additional 1 million babies born every year -- new citizens born of illegal parents.  That's right.  Even if we stopped illegal immigration entirely, the population would still swell +1 million per year, and increase at a rate of an additional 1 million per year after that for a another 20 years.  20 million this year new citizens this year, 22 million next year, 24 million the year after that, and so on.

Unfortunately, the numbers are much worse.  During the last decade, the number of new illegals per year has increased pretty dramatically.  In 2003 through 2004, the numbers were like 2 to 3 million new illegals each year, and so in 2013 (most likely sooner) we'll have another geometric progression starting.  In 2013, for instance there will be 1.5 million to 2 million new babies born of the illegals each year.  By 2015, there will be 2 to 3 million new citizens born whose grandparents were illegals.  And their grandparents, long dead, will have been forgiven of their original crime, illegal entry to this nation.

In the 60s, zero population growth was an issue, and American families, some struggling with religious ideals that made such decisions extremely difficult, reduced the average family size slowly.  Planners took a sigh of relief.  Whew, another bullet dodged.  Unfortunately, two things have happened in the last two decades to bring new despair.  With an influx of peoples who aren't allowed by faith to practice birth control, and a society gleefully handing them everything they need to make new babies (we're talking virtually free healthcare and many cases free food and clothing), our population is quickly outstripping our ability to support them or the "original" in place citizens.

What does this all have to do with healthcare?  The first five years, on average,  of an illegal's stay in the U.S. takes advantage of the services that are required by law to "look the other way" at immigration status.  One of the major institutions hit by this legalized humanitarian principal are hospitals. Hospitals were already in dire straits and we've exacerbated the problem considerably by enforcing their inability to turn away those who can't pay.

What does a financially responsible, humanitarian institution do when forced to provide healthcare to those who can't admit to having a job and can't pay because they have no insurance?  The hospitals foot the bill and ask for compensation from the local or state government.  Which, by the way two decades, those funds began to dry up.  Today there are literally few dollars left for this purpose, the state budgets for indigent healthcare are nearly non-existent.  Unfortunately this is not due to unemployment or what economic analysts would call structural unemployment (people unable to get jobs because of no job skills).  In fact, all the types of individuals who make up the low income bracket combined cannot compete with the number one category, illegals.  What is the effect?  Up go the costs for emergency care.  That's part one.  Who pays for emergency care?  That's part two.  The same insurance carriers who also pay for Joe Suburbanite who takes a spill while running or biking to stay fit.  The same Joe Blue Collar worker that accidentally drilled a hole in his hand at work or building that <fill in the blank> at home.

Now for part three.  Ever been to an Emergency Room?  If you haven't you are an exception.  In any case, just for ducks, and especially if you live near a large hospital that serves more than a few hundred local small town souls, call them and ask for a tour and to hang around for an hour or so.  Consider this Presidential Campaign research.  First of all, good luck getting any hospital to let you in.   And don't try to walk in, even small town hospitals have security now.  Your chances of watching without being invited are slim to none.   You could fake a cough and a sneeze, but I wouldn't recommend it, you might get your tonsils removed.

If you ARE lucky enough to get some hospital to invite you in (hint, they will do just about anything to recruit volunteers include giving you a taste of the jobs open to volunteers), take a look at the emergency room clientele.  First off, less than one half, but most likely far less, will have jobs.  They have medical insurance and came here because their plan requires it or their plan doctor is not available at oh dark hundred (Hint go at dinner time to 11pm).  Of this, less than half again, some 20 % are the urbanites.  Folks who screwed up and hurt themselves, or ate something they shouldn't have, or simply ate too much.  Many will have an unexplained new pain or just feel like shit.  Hint, stay away from the last batch, they might be infectious...these are sick people!

The others, the more than 50% of the total population are here for one of two basic reasons.  Violence is number one (not for the weak stomach, these people are a real damned mess).  I include self inflicted violence like drinking or other drugs and driving.  This is far too large a population in emergency rooms. This also includes Jane Q. Citizen and her boyfriend who were pranged by someone else while going  to <fill in the blank> in their private vehicle.  Auto injuries are also to damned high in the emergency room.  However, the most prevalent violent victims are criminally induced...someone shot someone, stabbed someone, or at a minimum took a swing at them.  And these victims wind up here first.  Some of these will be illegals, but fortunately, not too many.  Unfortunately, the victims of violent crimes will not usually be covered by insurance and increasingly, these victims are victims of illegals.  Oops..  There are exceptions...those who were robbed are probably working...they had to get the money somewhere.  But for the most part, insurance is questionable for this lot.  And hospital emergency rooms treat anyway...figure it out later is the law.

Next we have the majority of all patients found in the emergency rooms...the people who do not have doctors already.  Why?  They aren't working.  Or their jobs don't have benefits that include such esoteric things such as health benefits.  Young people, old people, you name it.  Your fast food worker is a good example.  Some of this population don' t have jobs, certainly.  Many have infrequent jobs.  Do you want to guess the percentage of this group are illegals?  Couldn't tell BECAUSE THE HOSPITALS DON'T WANT TO COLLECT THE DATA AND IN MANY CITIES ARE PROHIBITED BY LOCAL LAW TO COLLECT THE DATA!  Oops.

In any case, you be the judge while you're there.  It's not politically correct, but I bet you can figure out how many potential illegals are there for primary healthcare.   And if momma is about to drop a baby, the hospital can't say no.  So, from primary care disguised as emergency care to pediatrics or obstetrics and birthing, our hospital care has grown nearly geometrically since twenty years ago.  Oops.

The most concerning part of this to long range planners is the lack of data collected, and of course, the lack of knowledge of the demographics.  By not taking data, the problem is obsfucated from public scrutiny and allows the left to pander without fear.  But you are there, and you can begin to see the problem.

Who's paying for this?  All working people in the U.S.   That's right.  Forget the tax issues (which are not small, believe me), the insurance industry is footing the bill in one way or another and this has been passed on to the working folk.  Hospitals have tried to fix it by working at it from the sidelines.  Shorter stays for whatever reason.  Lot's more "visiting" doctors who practice the majority of their work outside the hospital, lowering on staff requirements.  Cutbacks in nursing staff.  Less teaching.  The medical industry itself has helped, with better drugs and treatments.  Sadly its all been in vain.  Doctors insurance is a small part of this, but that is political B.S.  Doctor's greed is a huge part of the rise in costs, so clearly a nice place to start with regulation is with doctor's fees.  But to use this to cure the real problem is just suicide, literally.  These people cut you open!

Now, let's take a look at the campaign trail.  Like your tax rate today?  Wait til the new healthplnas go into effect.  Funding every new healthcare recipient working at McDonald's part time alone will raise your taxes considerably.  Then there's Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, In and Out, Taco Bell...you get the picture.   The local Stop-N-Shop.  The gas station where you buy your VERY expensive gas.  All these places employ the people we just talked about, those who cannot afford to buy their own insurance.   AND they are "conveniently" working just a few hours less than the law requires for them to be covered with a medical plan.  It's called pseudo part time in some cases...32 to 36 hours per week.  Oh yeah, some of these new workers are teenagers who suck off momma and/or daddy's health plan, so no problem, that will get worked out.  The majority, however, are simply underpaid and receive no benefits.  These are Hillary and Barrack's new friends who will be covered by the new plans.  The "creative" ideas on how to fund this are hot air.   Right thing to do?  Perhaps.  But look at this.

Millions upon millions of new people will have to be covered.    And the illegals?  You guessed it.  They will get covered too.  You can bet on it, those votes are critical!  Why do you think there is so much fuss about having to provide/not needing to prove citizenship before voting?  Hmm?

So millions about millions will be covered, and some portion (we know the numbers -- we just calculated them for "new" citizens including their babies in the last twenty years) will be illegals.  This new heath care is not just about the part time or pseudo full time workers.  If that were the case, the plans would all take aim at corporations who are cheating their workers out of benefits by legalizing the part time/full time distinction.  Removing that distinction would reduce corporate profits certainly and that is the end of that discussion, right?

So who is going to pay for this new healthcare?  Hah!  Not Hillary.  Not Barrack.    No way.  They want YOUR money to pay for this.  Taxpayers foot the bill once more.  If we cover only one flu shot and the accompanying exam for every "new" citizen to be covered on the new heath care roles...well, there simply isn't enough money.  Even  if we use the the defense budget at 4% GNP.  Oops.  Now let's add in obstetrics, well baby care, bonehead accidents, and the usual wheeze, cough and sneeze.  The only way to find the money that won't come out of your pocket is to strip it from those existing health plans paid for by, you guessed it, the working folk.

Oh hell.  You can figure it out.  Billions of dollars will have to come from somewhere.  And a goodly portion (millions of unplanned babies attributable to our new south-of-the-border generated citizens) are our new citizens.  And the SAME PEOPLE WHO ALLOWED THESE NEW CITIZENS INTO OUR COUNTRY, AND ALLOWED THEM TO REMAIN, ARE NOW ASKING YOU TO PAY DIRECTLY FOR THEIR HEALTHCARE.  NEXT THEY'LL DEMAND FREE EDUCATION.  OOPS, THEY'RE ALREADY DOING THAT TOO!

Now if that doesn't make you angry, you are sleep walking.  Why, you might as well build an extra room on your house and invite these new citizens to live with you.  Better build two rooms, because as of yet, the impact of recent efforts to stem the tide off illegals, while impressive, are not statistically significant.  There will be no slow down in new baby production for instance, for another seventeen to twenty years.  Think about that.  We have two more decades of rising number of new citizens traceable back to illegal immigrants REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO NOW.  Now my father used to call this kind of thing, "getting behind the power curve...no amount of extra throttle will save your ass."  Think on that!

How to fix this?  Well, some people don't have a clue because their hearts get in the way.  This requires some pretty heartless changes and right away.  Like yesterday.  The fact is you have to make hard decisions, this IS a national level, country destroying issue.  Those who say otherwise are ostriches.
  1. Stop all immigration, legal and illegal. A moratorium until we straighten this mess out.   Stop it dead, and I mean it!  The border is a killing zone, damnit!
  2. Toss out any illegal you stumble across and that also means looking at them and yes, asking for ID.  Now if you give them ID without proof of citizenship, you are REALLY stupid cuz then you can't tell who's who (I am convinced that is the hidden agenda in the ID debate).
  3. This nonsense of becoming a citizen because a momma drops the baby on American soil is stupid.  I was born in Germany...to a U.S. military officer on duty and his American Citizen wife.  Does that make me a German?  Ridiculous.  Only in America would this be true, damn our hides.  This is a left wing invention of the worst kind!
  4. Do not start up legal immigration until we figure out how to PROVE we can handle what we got already and we then PROVE we have this solved.
  5. Any aid we are sending to Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and a host of other South American countries stops now.   Immediately. That money goes to paying for what we got in the way of new citizens created by their citizens in our country...see 6 below, we may be shipping a bunch of people to Mexico.   Call the fund the Illegal Immigration Remedial Fund (IIRF).
  6. This will surely raise hell with the left, strip children of illegals of citizenship, and send mommy, daddy, and kid back to Mexico. Now.  Not next month, expedited hearings, force prove of citizenship...you know, a reasonable facsimile of a birth certificate for everyone or out they go!
  7. If you are an illegal fathering a child in the U.S. this needs to be a felony and you lose EVERYTHING.  If the mom and/or pop are originally from another country, let the Mexican government deal with how to get them home...we leave them at the border nearest where they are captured.  Mexico is extremely complicit in the illegals crossing the border in the first place and they need to share in the costs of this travesty.
  8. Close any business convicted twice within six months of hiring an illegal.  Simple as that.  They close and their legal employees should receive compensation from the sale of the company assets while the executives go to jail for a long time.  Enough of this B.S. of hiring illegals.  American business wants a guest worker program?  Fine.  Earn it and pay for it.  No more free lunch.  A moratorium on guest workers for a decade ought to send a message loud and clear.
  9. Create a legal class of violent criminals who also happen to be illegals...whose minimum sentence is a year building and maintaining hospitals along the border for illegal mommas about ready to drop a baby.   It's a nice thing to do, and after all, we are using foreign aid to pay for it.  Let the liberals volunteer to work there instead of other peace corps or other similar volunteer work.  Let's see just how liberal they truly are!  Let's see them demonstrate their kind hearts with real action rather than lip service.  That's  half the country, right?   Surely we can find people willing to assist in birthing along the border amongst half the country?  Or is this bleeding heart stuff only good for political rhetoric?
  10. Tenth - Fine any sanctuary city $1,000,000 per day for every day they have sanctuary laws on the books.  L.A. will resist forever and we can count on this revenue for quite some time.   Ditto for quite a few nutcase liberal city governments in this nation.  All this revenue goes into the IIRF to help pay for border fencing, maintenance, increased border patrol, more predator drones, helicopters, fuel, etc. to patrol and lock up the border. If any is left over, use it on the hospitals in number nine above.
By the way, a Presidential directive to Homeland Security to close the border is in order, should have been done in September of 2001.  If DoHS can't do it, then this national emergency requires the United States military to get involved.  I heartily recommend using more than just the national guard.  If our laws make it impossible for our military to defend our border in a national emergency, then change the law like yesterday, that is just plain stupid.

Why is this so critical?  Again it's the math.  Either you have an open border and let anyone come across who wants to, or your don't.   A guest worker should not be able to bring his family here AND then create a new citizen.  Babies of non U.S. citizens are not U.S. citizens!  Get a damned clue! Sheez!

We have enough trouble providing services for our own citizens let alone for someone else's.  Immigration is a benefit provided by a stable nation with its services under control   Immigration is not a right especially not granted to citizens of another country! Obviously,  immigration is a liberal invention that has, once again, proven to be wishful thinking gone mad and proven to be the biggest failure of our time.  Give us your tired and your poor, only do it later, when we've figured out how to control the damned beast!
