Description
Radical anti-abortion group known for advocacy of intimidation of abortion
clinic owners, doctors, nurses, patients and visitors. Originally began
to collect data on abortion clinics operators and personnel starting in
1996 as preparation for a mock trial. The web site was the ide of
Paul deParie the editor of a monthly magazine, "Life Advocate".
Current leaderof the group is Andrew Burnett.
Activities
Owner and operator of a highly controversial web site called the Nuremburg
Files, which uses a wanted poster format to highlight targeted abortion
doctors, providing personal information such as business and home addresses.
The group was sued and a Portland, Oregon court
awarded $107 million to the Doctor and Owner plantiffs. This
ruling was recently rescinded by a U.S. District Court in San Francisco
upon appeal. The web site was also taken offline for many years,
however, may be allowed back on again as result of the new ruling.
The Plantiffs are expected to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
