Joint Logistics ACTD Goals
The Joint Logistics Advanced Concepts and Technology Demonstration (JL ACTD) is a multi-phase program which will provide an experimental environment where logisticians can evaluate maturing tools and technologies for increased operational capability. Initial efforts will integrate existing tools that exploit near real-time logistics data sources operating within the Global Combat Support System (GCSS). Key data sources include Joint Total Asset Visibility (JTAV), Joint Personnel Asset Visibility (JPAV), and Global Transportation Network (GTN).

This slide shows the overall vision for the JL ACTD. The objective is to provide users, wherever they are, with access to data and tools without the need to know where they are. The JL ACTD will focus on the area highlighted by the red cloud, joint decision support tools.

There are three phases of the JL ACTD. Phase I developed the Logistics Anchor Desk which was declared complete in Apr 97. Phase II will focus on migrating critically needed decision support tool functionality from the Logistics Anchor Desk to the Global Combat Support System (GCSS) web-based environment and development and fielding of new joint logistics decision support tools that satisfy joint operational requirements. Phase III will provide a migration path for evaluating and fielding advanced technologies such as those developed by the Advanced Logistics Program.

The goal of this initiative is to develop and field innovative, advanced, logistics decision support tools to assist logisticians at all operational echelons --strategic, operational, and tactical -- to:
