Possible targets in battlefield environments would be Surface to Air Missiles mounted on rail launchers or box launchers, non-armored equipment such as trucks, small transports like jeeps or humvee equivalents, motorcycles or even troops.
In urban environments, the laser can be used to target tires on stationary vehicles, or gas tanks on a stationary motorcycle.
The ATL is being looked at as a four pallet device that is easily loaded into a slow moving or hovering type aircraft such as a jump jet cargo vehicle or a large cargo helicopter such as the Chinook. With an output coupler configured as a steerable lense, the ATL can be aimed from hover or in slow, stable movement and fired typically at non moving targets. Other, more flexible targeting with stabilization for use against moving targets or from platforms moving at higher speeds will most likley be considered if the base platform proves feasible.
