Chapter 1: USCENTCOM
With the dissolution of the Soviet Union, several Islamic republics of the Commonwealth of Independent States are of special interest to Central Command due to cultural and religious ties to other nations in the region. While not in USCENTCOM's AOR, Israel, Syria, and Lebanon are also in the Command's area of interest due to the pervasive nature of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the importance of the ongoing peace process.
