Iraq Must Cooperate with Inspectors, Boucher Says
(Written response to a question taken at Feb 25 Briefing)
The United States hopes that U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan will
underscore the need for Iraq to cooperate with arms inspectors as a
first step to complying with U.N. Security Council Resolutions when
Annan meets with Iraq's foreign minister in March, State Department
Spokesman Richard Boucher said in a text released February 25.

Questions Taken at February 25, 2002 Daily Press Briefing
UN SECRETARY GENERAL'S MEETING WITH IRAQI FOREIGN MINISTER
Question: Any reaction to a meeting scheduled between the Iraqi
Foreign Minister Sabri and UN Secretary General Annan March 7 at UN
headquarters in New York?
Answer: As the secretary said -- this should be a short meeting.
Iraq knows what it must do: Comply with all relevant Security Council
Resolutions. We hope the Secretary General will reiterate this simple
requirement and point out the necessity of Iraqi cooperation with arms
inspectors as a first step.
