Intelligence: RADINT Definition
RADINT or radar intelligence is a specialized form of ELINT, which categorizes and locates the target's radar emmissions. This is extremely useful information in time of battle, as one of the first steps taken to ensure a successful attack is to take out the target's radar systems to disable their detection of and defense against incoming missiles or aircraft.
There are special aircraft used to "ferret" out radar signatures by encroaching into target airspace or by performing other activities which entice the target to "light up" and illuminate the enticing aircraft with their radar. Once on the air, the "ferret" aircraft then records the location of the emmitter, its type and strength for later tactical use.
