Counterterrorism

The Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism is headed by Ambassador Philip C. Wilcox, Jr., who has primary responsibility within the U.S. Government for developing, coordinating, and implementing American counterterrorism policy. He chairs the Interagency Working Group on Counterterrorism, which develops and coordinates policy. He also serves as chairman of the Department of State's task force to coordinate responses to international terrorist incidents. The office coordinates all U.S. Government efforts to improve counterterrorism cooperation with foreign governments, including the policy and planning of the Department's Anti-terrorism Training Assistance Program. The office also coordinates all other U.S. counterterrorism assistance programs and the inter-agency research and development program for counterterrorism.
