MILNET: Military Information

The NATO Alliance

Under Construction:  Only some of the data has been converted for the Nato countries.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is headquartered in Brussells, Belgium. The alliance is a military and geo-political alliance based upon the European Geography after the Soviet Union annexed large portions of the Eastern European half of the continent, and after invading Poland.

The alliance was formed to counter the threat termed "The Iron Curtain" and later referred to as the "Cold War". The military alliance has begun to change drastically following the break-up of the former Soviet Union, and in fact President Boris Yeltsin of Russia is determined to make Russia a member nation of NATO.

However the instability of the new emerging Eastern states has left many wondering if it is too soon to disband the NATO alliance.
