  Three Different Worlds, 10/09/2006
Updated 10/16/2006

It's like living in three different worlds...I persue three different news sites on my daily news crawl and sometimes I wonder if the three are on the same planet.

Headlines Online:
MSNBC - Foley EMail Scandal Could Tumble GOP
FOX - Coalition Forces Kill 30 Insurgenents in Southern Iraq
CNN - Source:  N. Korea May Drop Test If U.S. Holds Talks
Granted the three need to differentiate themselves, and yes, I suppose all three headlines are important.  However, it is errie to say the least.  Are the chief editors of these online organizations on drugs?  Let's look at these three headlines closely.  Let's start with CNN.

CNN

The article says nearly right off (you to read a little)  "...said Jang Sung-min, citing a telephone conversation with an unidentified Chinese diplomatic official."  Jang Sung-min is a former South Korean lawmaker.  I can't help it, I don't know that much about South Korea's legislature, but the first thought that comes to mind is "who is this guy? And can we trust this obvious attempt at creating back door diplomacy?  Or is this some guy hoping against odds?"  Frankly, I am very skeptical...the North Korean Nuke issue isn't about diplomacy with the U.S., it's about power in the region...BIG BOOM, BIG POWER!!! and afterwards maybe BIG MONEY to calm them down.  Although, it appears the North Koreans never really responded to numerous attempts at the carrot, maybe its time for the BIG STICK.  I know I'm a hawk.  You should meet my brother!

MSNBC

Now let's turn to MSNBC.  Oh alright, Foley is a scandal made for election cycles.  However, isn't MSNBC kind of into wishful thinking too?  We've seen them, and in fact a lot of liberal nutcases, try to trot out what they want their followers to believe as if it were laid-in-concrete facts.  This stiff resolve -- "This is the way it is" with a Walter Cronkiteish proclamation.  Or was it that other guy...you know the one that left in disgrace over at CBS.  Anyway, the point is a sexual predator in Congress is big news alright.  The guy would be horsewhipped in times gone by.  Did he break laws?  That's questionable at the best case, and although rumblings are there, no one's making noises at the DOJ.  I wonder if it was a Democrat if the DOJ would be a little more excited.  But "Tumble the GOP?"  Oh that is pure B.S. and again, as I said, wishful thinking.  Dream on MSNBC.  Your colors are showing again!  And if this were by chance an election gambit...too soon in the cycle...may be forgotten...of course the left will keep punching at it to keep it alive.  Yeah it's important, but other Senator's finances...well don't get me started.

FOX

Then there's Fox.  The took a positive spin on events in Iraq again.  "30 Insurgents killed...".  Whoopee Shit!  Sorry for the swearing but now that my son is over there, I'd rather hear something like six thousand insurgents were blasted to hell and gone!  30 is peanuts in a land filled with probably more like a thousand.  I've not seen any solid intelligence on that count, by the way.  I'd really like the Director of the CIA to get up and say, "hey, there are umpty-ump insurgents at our best guess and hey, they aren't Iraqis, they are Jordanian, Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian, and linked pretty much all to Al Qaeda or Al Qaeda wanna-bes".  I mean like a major speech,  not hidden in some barely readable intelligence document accidentally leaked to Chris Wallace at Fox.  Let's make a big deal out of that.  And yes, declassify -- you don't have to name your sources, just do the MSNBC thing and speak as if it's in concrete!

Nice job, by the way, to Chris Wallace.  Of course I am sure the Bush Admin isn't as happy about Clinton imploding on Fox News Sunday as we might have suspected. The fiasco brought up issues they'd probably like NOT to return to at this point, especially not in the election cycle.  In any case, Wallace did a good job of trying to hold a hat over the fire, and as to Clinton's claim Wallace was making his bones...Wallace was a fine, well thought of, "Made Man" well before Clinton lost his cool.  That's more of Clinton's "I am the center of the world" arrogance.  Go home, Bill, you're wife is calling you!

MILNET

And finally, on the off chance you are still reading this, leftys, take a look at the cartoon from the TIME magazine website I saw the other day, cracked me up.  All I can say is Spawning Terrorists.  Yuk Yuk Yuk!  I happen to agree that the infamous NIE is probably more good news than bad...once you realize who the "insurgents" are in Iraq, you quickly understand that the fighting over there has less to do with the U.S. than it does inter-Iraqi rivalries that have been going on for millenia.  Oh and to those idiots who think leaving Saddam there would have kept the lid on..you're right in a way.  Of course, he was killing Iraqis at the same rate as the insurgents and if you didn't think he was a bigger danger to the Middle East, you are dreaming!  Glad he's gone, thank you very much. Nice job, G.W.  Now let's have a little talk about this nutcase in Iran...
