Boy did we call that one. Not hours after we posted our report begun over the weekend -- an analysis of the nearly hysterical nature of the Democrat shenanigans and rewriting of history, we get these idiot Demo Congressmen flying over to Iraq -- ala Jane Fonda -- and then getting on TV to help the Iraqi propaganda machine.
Reps. Jim McDermott (Wash.), David E. Bonior (Mich.) and Mike Thompson (Calif.) take the cake. McDermott gets on the TV and says the President is misleading the American people. His evidence, a guided tour by Iraqi officials of hospitals where children aren't getting the medicine they need -- clearly something the U.S. could have prevented simply by dropping the sanctions.
Of all the half witted things to do. First to get on TV and become an Iraqi propagandist -- another Congressional oath breaker climbs out of the anti-war closet. Worse, one would expect a Congressmen to have a little better understanding of world affairs. Billions of international aid dollars were available last year and this year to buy medicines for the Iraqi people. The very fact that the children in Iraq don't get medicine points out the evil of Saddam Hussein's regime -- he's funneling the money elsewhere. This guy, this Doctor, this bleeding heart has bought the propaganda of the Iraqi regime and now gets on TV to help us poor deluded Americans by telling it "like it really is." 48 hours in Iraq, and these guys are now experts on Iraqi's WMD programs -- there is no reason to attack Iraq, they are innocent. Just like Scott Ritter, a 72 hour wonder. Naive and disingenuous. Perfect spokespersons for the Iraqi cause.
Then there's their defenders back in the U.S. calling them patriots for "standing up and telling the truth." Right. The truth according to Saddam. How nice for them.
As we've said before, its only a matter of days or weeks before Jane Fonda climbs on her private jet and goes over there to do her show. Bet they can find a tank for her to climb up on -- make that Vietnam era photo live again, Barbarella.
You know, it is interesting that our Constitution allows even the most traitorous of us to speak out. Sadly, I have no doubt this guy Mike Thompson from California has nothing to fear, the anti-war crowd will probably have a parade for him next time he visits. McDermott and Bonior too, I suppose. That's the freedom that we allow.
Save the children of Iraq -- never mind their leader is the one stealing the money for their medicine. Don't go to war with Iraq because the innocents will be maimed or killed. Never mind that this wonderfully compassionate ideal, if followed, will result in the continued defiance of U.N. resolutions and Saddam's continued development of WMD, continued support for terrorists the world over, and never mind that eventually this compassion on our part will result in another set of thousands of U.S. deaths and injured.
Don't learn from history, the important thing is to be non-violent. Don't go after those who would hurt you, it will all work out in the end if you sit calmly with your hands in your lap.
If anything should polarize the American citizenry, it should be when the bleeding hearts start aiding the enemy from their own soil. It's one thing to debate openly in country, it's another to do so from an enemy's soil. And to top off the "debate", an idiot on cable responded to criticism of McDermott by saying something to the effect that McDermott was a courageous American. Yeah, well let that courageous American step across the threshold of my house and he'll wind up bloody in the street.
One interesting thing about history, is that there are always people who want to relive it, even at the cost of lives in their own country. Again and again the pattern emerges and still they do not learn. Appease. See where it gets you? Name the only world leader to win at appeasement. Ghandi. He was assassinated. His country is at the precipice of war with their neighbor, the neighbor Ghandi created by his focus on peaceful coexistence. The most famous anti-war proponent is also the world's greatest Loser. Capital L. Right idea, wrong time.
And to suppose that today is the right time for non-violent conflict resolution denies the deaths on 9/11, the deaths on the U.S.S. Cole, the deaths at Khobar Towers, and the 1993 deaths at the World Trade Center. Just to name a few. We've heard of short memories, but 1 year and some two weeks seems a little excessive.
Our fathers had an expression -- "run them out of town on a rail". We're
not sure what that means, but it has a certain ring to it. If behavior
is unacceptable, as speaking out against your country from foreign soil,
and especially when you're dead wrong, then it is only natural that that
behavior be "rewarded" with appropriate action. The most Congress
could do, we suppose is a censure. We'd like to see them "run out
of town on a rail." Maybe Msrs McDermott, Bonior, and Thompson should
join the Tort-man and retire early. Certainly their constituents
should have the courage to say enough is enough and make sure they never
hold public office again.
