MILNET presents a compilation of information on the world's intelligence agencies, those tasked with gathering information be it overt or covert, as well the agencies usually engaged in counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, espionage and covert operations.

NOTE: This page was originally created before the events of September 11. Major changes to the Intelligence Community have been in progress, including a necessary opening of highly improved interfaces between all elements of the U.S Intelligence Community, as well as a reaching out to the worlds other intelligence agencies. Recently, the U.S. Congress has begun investigating the perceived failures in intelligence that allowed Al Qaeda to use a fairly simple method to create such a large amount of damage, and against a known (it was tried before) target. MILNET will attempt to compile and report on key, non-politically motivated results after the Commission's final report is released.

The reader should note that the information here began its genesis in the early 1980s, and has been updated regularly since then. Recently, the U.S. Government has allowed the Office of The Director of Central Intelligence to publicize many of the changes going on in the Intelligence Community. These changes make vast modifications to the budget process, tasking, and management of intelligence resources. However, while tasks differ today from those engaged upon during the "Cold War", the techniques and definitions for Intelligence operations remain quite similar.

It should also be noted that until reports are made public, no single source for "official" information on the Intelligence Community could be relied upon, and thus the MILNET project was one of few sources for such information. We are pleased to see that over 90% of our seminal information about structures and definitions have withstood the disinformation and non-disclosure process well, and without comprimising the security of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
