This compilation of information includes information from sources such as the Federal Research Division, United States Library of Congress as well as bits and pieces from various other magazines and internet WWW sources. For further information on the Library of Congress data, consult the Country Studies at http://lcweb2.loc.gov/frd/cs/cshome.html

The goal of the compilation is to, as accurately as possible, and with as up-to-date information as we can find, outline various countries in a particular region. Our process first focuses on the Middle Eastern nations, as they continue to present problems for our leaders in the U.S., as well as for the entire world of nations.

Therefore, we have also taken, in nearly totality, the data found in the U.S. Air Force University (Air Force Command and Staff College) projects to document the regions covered by the various U.S. Unified Commands.

For instance, we have mirrored the U.S. CENTCOM web page found at the Air University which nicely covers most of the Middle East (found at: http://tuvok.au.af.mil/au/database/projects/ay1995/95-002/chap3/intro.htm .

However, we also realized that countries such as Israel, and in fact other North African countries such as Libya bear discussion as well, despite there not being covered by the U.S. Unified Command data available.

Thus we have executed our own compilation of data, similar to that performed by the Air University students in their efforts using open source collection methods. Our hope is to fill the gaps left by the command by command procedure for gathering data.

We may, from time-to-time, notice a new piece of data published and add to the compilation we have begun. Certainly the Library of Congress data is overwhelming in its size and coverage, so that source will be plundered as time and energy permits. And certainly, if the Air University provides additional data, we will attempt to mirror that as well.
