
It is clear from even a brief look at the U.S. Navy's published position and strategy documents that the Navy is embarked upon moving from the Cold War warfighting doctrine to a regional force projection scenario more appropriate for a non-bipolar (i.e. not the old Soviet vs. Western) world order.
Indeed, many say that the Navy has made the transition and is already well positioned for the next decade of Naval Warfare. Reading the documents below will aid the reader in making their own assessment, and in particular, help the reader understand what the Navy intends to do to further prepare for the next century.
To understand the current U.S. Navy posture and strategy, we first turn to a landmark white paper which describes the new naval strategy post-cold war.
