Syria

Syria is located just North of Jordon, within striking range of the major oil fields in the Middle East. Syria has close ties to most of the pro-Soviet nations in the Middle East, and next to Iraq (previsu to the Gulf War), could be clasiffied as a major threat to the region in terms of military strength and politics.
Syria shares borders with Israel, Lebanon, and Jordon, and is a known sanctuary for muslim fundamentalist terrorist groups. PLO, PLFC, and other groups have both training camps and staging areas in Syria, and Israel is in a constant struggle to keep her common border clear.
