Nuradin Abdi
Abdi at one time a resident of Colombus, Ohio, is accussed of
falsifying travel documents stating he was traveling to Germany and
Saudi Arabia for purposes of traveling to Mecca for a holy pilgrimage
when in fact he traveled to Ethiopia to attend military training for
the purposes of preparing for violent Jihad, and two counts of fraud
and misuse of documents used in his travels. The indictment
also includes the special conditions that the acts were committed to
facilitate an act of International Terrorism. The case included
the proposition to blow up the Brooklyn bridge by one of Abdi's cohorts
(who was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in May of 2003) and
Abdi's call to attack an Ohio shopping mall. Abdi's other cohort
is awaiting trail in January of 2009 for plotting to kill Americans at
a European tourist facility and plotting to attack U.S. bases in Europe
as well.
