Brief Description
The Cold War Is On  #1 !!!
Mar 2007
Russia is clearly demonstrating behavior which is highly reminescent of the old Cold War.  This new Cold War may have new partners for Russia than it's former Soviet self, but it sure feels the same....for obstructionism in the U.N, to providing loads of assistance to Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, they appear to do anything to create trouble for the west.  (Pageviews in 2008-Jun: 2,965, May: 7,078, Apr: 6,582)
Hollywood Fictional Attack
July 2005
Last year I stopped watching one of my favorite shows.  What happened was the writers nearly overnight went anti-war nuts and tried to turn the show into a blithering left wing oratory on the military and the Bush government. The show shortly was off the air, losing its audience rather quickly.  Others have survived and have gone even further  over the edge.  Boston Legal for instance hasn't let up and still seems pretty popular.  West Wing went off the air, and I, the arch conservative loved the inside look at the White House, but I really had to ignore the pointed attacks on the right.  Is Hollywood using their special place on the television and theater to produce left wing, anti-conservative propaganda?  You be the judge.
The U.N. Useless Sep 2004 Only in the idealist's unreal world is the U.N. an effective organizations. To the realist, it is less than useless.  But try to propose an alternative.
The Price of Liberalism
July 2005
The price of Liberalism is not a figment of conservative imagination.  The costs associated with looking the other way because of an abundance of over sensitivity to the proclivities of human behavior are enormous.
Putin the Secret Dictator
Oct 2007
MILNET is one of the online sites that has continued to point at our so called new friends in Russia with some disdain.  For instance, we are staunch proponents of the theory that a new cold war is in operation, with the nation of Russia as the obvious replacement for the old Soviet Union -- smaller, less dangerous, but dangerous still.  We are not comforted by the rhetoric of the Russian government or its current President Vladimir Putin.
The Myth of Oppression Feb 2005 Looks at ten myths associated with Israel and Palestinians and includes myths that bring the U.S. into that frame of reference and resulting violence.
Invisible Threat: Leftist's Blind Spot
Feb 2008
The problem with the Left extends from two seemingly opposing logic centers.  They are voiced in back room statements like "We can't have the machines for war, we should not be a warring nation" and "But we cannot look soft on National Security".  So how do you manage to ensure that the public's perception of your ideals matches your schizophrenic desires?  How do you do that without getting caught in a lie?  Simple.  Create a bigger lie.
The Iranian Bomb-Sooner Than You Think
Sep 2006
In the ongoing effort to second guess those actually tasked with making the decisions, the U.S. Senate's Foreign Relations Committee has been holding hearings in order to get a fair understanding of what the various experts have to say about pursuing various options centered on the ultimate goal -- keeping Iran from completing and testing a nuclear weapon.  And has been the case for decades, the experts cannot agree with any certainty on positive steps, only that it is most likely a lost cause...not that we at MILNET counter that pessimism to any degree.
Immigration Bill Hoax
May 2007
In looking over the immigration bill being debated in Congress, my temper went through the roof.  Of all the useless bills ever proposed...the emotional rant could continue for hours, probably will.  Suffice to say that the bill is the largest hoax foisted upon the American people in the history of Congress
Axis Closes Ranks Feb 2005 Not too unexpectedly, the Axis of Evil is closing ranks. Today, Syria and Iran announced the beginnings of a new alliance to "build a common front".
No One Asked Us
Sep 2004
Stan Coerr's excellent piece -  No one asked the Iraqi soldiers what they thought of the Iraq situation, why its important or why they put their lives on the line.  Well, no more, Stan gives it to us with gusto.  This, by the way, is one of our all time top two articles on MILNET.
Our Friends The Russians Mar 2005 The Cold War may have ended but the Russians are certainly not friends of the United States.
Classic Russian Pattern Dec 2004 Taking a casual look at current acts by Russian President Vladmir Putin will remind you of the former Soviet Union. Are Putin's acts against the democracy of Russia leading back to those evil days?
The Terrorist Bomb
Sep 2004
With the United Nations doing it's usual job of helping their deception, Iran has brazenly declared to the world their ultimate machismo.  It is clear the next sound we will hear from them is "Boom". Big bada boom. And we aren't talking about the Sopranos either.
Being Scared Is Okay
Mar 2005
MILNET's Chief Editor get's asked questions about various MILNET topics all the time, and sometimes he sees fear in the eyes of average hard working Americans. It's okay to be scared
Laws, Regulations, and Rules
Jan 2005
"In 1995, the Justice Department embraced flawed legal reasoning, imposing a series of restrictions on the FBI that went beyond what the law required. The 1995 Guidelines and the procedures developed around them imposed draconian barriers to communications between the law enforcement and intelligence communities. The wall "effectively excluded" prosecutors from intelligence investigations. The wall left intelligence agents afraid to talk with criminal prosecutors or agents. In 1995, the Justice Department designed a system destined to fail." - John Ashcroft, U.S. Attorney General

In 2001 we reaped the "benefits" of that failure.
Iranian Death March Sep 2004 Iran continues to march along a path that will lead to its government's destruction.  Civilized nations concerned with the duty to protect its citizens from WMD will eventually tire of diplomatic gestures and blow the WMD plants to hell and gone, and then turn to look at the government that created the threat in the first place.  That government will not, can not, survive.
In Iraq:  Terrorism, Not Civil War
Mar 2005
MILNET's Chief Editor watched a young protogee shred a smug liberal's clock with precise and concise words - The violence in Iraq is not terrorism, it's civil war.
The Other Fight
Mar 2005
Terrorists are grown, not born, and as part of the War on Terror, we have to go to the source and fix it.  Let's stop the vitirol from Wahhabist preaching, and in parallel let's fix the governments that breed the would-be terrorist and then let's eliminate rogue nations that spur the terrorists on, provide them with funds, shelter, and other support.
The Uneasy Alliance
Jan 2005
Our Western European Allies - It has become an uneasy friendship, strained, and frought with unpredictability, the killer of diplomacy and negotiation.  But rather than blame ourselves, let's look at where they are headed and discover why they are out of step with America, not the other way around.
The Underplayed Crisis
Sep 2004
The real problem with nuclear proliferation...yeah, it's about Iran.  Waiting too long for proof of their nuclear weapons development is foolish and it has taken a long time for this to be a real issue.  Written before Iran's Nuclear program became a campaign issue.
Iran Joins the Cast of Irrational
Jul 2004
In what can only be described as bizarre, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the top religious leader of the government in Iraq says he believes the U.S. and Israel are conducting kidnappings and beheadings in Iraq.  Joining the irrational leaders of North Korea who accuse the U.S. of making up the facts surrounding the nuclear crisis in that country in order to take North Korea to war, the Iranian religious leader seems to gone off the deep edge.
Building Targets for Suicide Bombers
May 2002
A MILNET report published by AFI, dealing with Jewish settlements built in disupted territory.  Now that they are finally being torn down, it sort of makes this piece prophetic.
One Sided Politics and Military Alliance: The Modern Saudi Legacy
Sep 2002
This four section report summarizes the reality of the Saudi Arabian duplicity that MILNET believes contributed heavily to many of the major terrorist events in the last two decades and joins with the Rand Corporation analysts who recommend that the U.S. take strong measures to force the Saudi government to change their ways or face U.S. retaliation.
China's Leadership Shows Their Arrogance
Apr 2001
When a Chinese jet patrol plane collided with a U.S. surveillance aircraft, the Chinese had a great opportunity to show how they were serious about joining the world community of civilized nations. Instead they demonstrated arrogance and cold war mentality.
Hillary Dillary Dec 2004 Hillary dillary dock, the Senator ran out the clock.  With little time to dither, she's got the Republicans in a lather, the next Demo to blather.
Defective Liberal Logic Disease Oct 2004 There remains in this country, a disease of the mind that continues to pump out not only fictional historical events to support their position but an exceeding proclivity to spout forth with logic that defies intelligence.  The disease is DLLD.
