MILNET: U.S. Army Commands

Note: Since the breakup of the former Soviet Union, the U.S. military has undertaken a huge drawback, creating a downsizing unprecedented since the end of World War I. Thus some of the geographical commands have been changed or removed. For instance, a large reduction of forces in Europe has removed an entire numbered army from the U.S. Army structure. The Western Command is probably now CONUS, the Continental U.S. command. We will update once things stablize. Note, however, that larger reserves are in constant training, and that various callups due to missions to various parts of the globe keep the smaller U.S. Army (and the entire U.S. military for that matter) in constant evolutions and deployments. These deployments have resulted in some rather remarkable retention and morale issues, with individuals being kept away or deployed with little or no notice.
