MILNET presents a graphical look at the current hotspots, providing a quick look at the current threat situation using green, yellow, orange and red "thermometers".  You will note that this is not strategic threat based, rather is focused on actual ongoing violence identified as hotspots by MILNET.  The graph is updated weekly.

Typically this term indicats an isolated series of various military or terrorist actions spelling danger to local citizens or areas that do not fall into the other categories below.  Examples would be a miiltary airstrike on a terrorist camp or an isolated personal attack by relatively unknown persons

Bombings
IED/Suicide bombings conducted usually by terrorist organizations
C
Coup in Progress
A military coup; Junta has overthrown the government
E
Ethnic
Ethnic or Tribal attacks - usually related to ethnic cleansing or genocide
M
Militant Direct Attack
Militant armed (rifles, grenades, etc.) attacks on civilians or military
MB
Mixed Warfare
Campaign style or simultaneous IEDs, suiciders and/or direct attacks
R
Rocket/Grenade
Long distance attacks usually on bases or civilian areas
S
Sectarian/Factional
Factions fighting between sects, ethnical tribesman, may also include attacks involving police or military forces involved in security patrols.  Also called an ongoing insurgency

Warfare
Daily attacks of all types involving armies, aircraft, recon, vehicles
